Yearly oral exams are recommended on every horse. Horse’s teeth continuously erupt throughout their lives, and painful sharp points develop as the teeth grow and wear. Dental floatation is typically performed yearly (if needed) to remove points that develop. A painful mouth affects a horse’s ability to chew and digest food, and causes pain when riding. This directly affects performance and ability.
